Virtualization Security Newcomer Altor Networks Gets $6M

0 Comments 24 April 2008

Altor Networks announced today that it has secured a $6 million second round. This round of funding, their second, comes on the heels of the release of their first product, Virtual Network Security Analyzer on March 17th, 2008. This latest dive into the virtualization space was led by Accel Partners and Foundation Capital, neither a slouch when it comes to parking money in security outfits. Of course, this begs the question of when will the virtualization security segment lose its luster? Will it follow the “real world” and collapse into the infrastructure like the old guard of security products? Our view is that it will, just as soon as the complexity is taken out of the configuration and operations of the core products. Security will become (through acquisition) just another layer in the base products.
