Midwest Security Services Firm FishNet Nabs Additional Funding

0 Comments 30 March 2008

Intersting from the the standpoint that FishNet Security, Inc. is an information security VAR. We don't see many investments into services companies, let alone those that are so specific, so this bears mention. Also worth noting is that FishNet primarily serves small and medium-size businesses, but has recently been moving up the foodchain to address larger clients.

Just the other day, FishNet announced that it has received a "significant investment" from Lake Capital, a private equity firm that invests exclusively in service-based companies. According to FishNet, they will use the capital to grow the scope and reach of their service offerings through some mix of internal organic initiatives and acquisitions.

At last glance, FishNet Security rakes in around $200 million in annual revenue and has nearly 300 employees across the US in 25 offices. All of this from reselling and deploying products from Check Point, McAfee, RSA, Symantec, and others, as well as the more "traditional" consulting offerings.

According to founder and CEO Gary L. Fish, they plan to use the capital infusion and other resources of Lake Capital to "…accelerate our plan to bring additional value-added services to our existing clients, including new areas of expertise, new technologies, and broader deployment of complex solutions while continuing to expand our customer base." Let's hope this translates into a move up the value chain and being seen as much more than a reseller and box pusher.
