8th Annual Cornerstones of Trust Conference

No Comments 15 June 2010

We are pleased to announce that  Brightfly’s Managing Director of Research, Brandon Dunlap, was invited to provide the afternoon keynote at this year’s Cornerstones of Trust 2010 Conference in Foster City, CA.

Kicking off the afternoon sessions, Dunlap will deliver a never before seen keynote address titled “The Measure of Professional Identity” where he explores this year’s conference theme: Weathering the Storm, and what the new world of social media means for security professionals.  In just 45 minutes, you will be challenged to weigh the risks and rewards of privacy and transparency. Dispel the myths and misconceptions of managing your identity on-line. And separate the signal from the noise in h0w social media and the establishment of your professional persona can further your career ambitions and improve dialogue with your key stakeholders.

This year marks the 8th year that Bay Area professional associations have come together to create a venue for security leaders and practitioners to evaluate trends and develop responses to the challenges like increasing cost pressures, rising compliance complexity, the changing threat landscape and the disruption caused by emerging technologies.

We hope that you can make it out to this fantastic regional event and show your support for the Silicon Valley ISSA and San Francisco ISSA chapters, and their partner in this conference, the San Fransisco InfraGuard chapter.

State of Cybersecurity from the Federal CISOs

1 Comment 05 May 2010

This time last year, President Barack Obama, delivered the first-ever presidential speech dedicated entirely to cybersecurity. In this speech, he proclaimed that the nation’s digital infrastructure should be considered a “strategic national asset.” The fact that those words were uttered by the President of the United States have cast a new light on the ongoing and pervasive risks that government, business, academic and personal users face in the digital world.

Please join Brightfly’s Managing Director of Research, Brandon Dunlap, as he moderates the latest in (ISC)2‘s ThinkT@nk series: “State of Cybersecurity from the Federal CISOs-A New Perspective.” This one hour online roundtable, based on the findings of (ISC)2‘s latest survey of the Government CISO community promises to be an enlightening event.

The live webcast is being held Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at 12:00pm EST/9:00am PST, and includes the following security luminaries on the panel:

Brightfly Awarded “Most Connected Customer” at SXBW

3 Comments 24 March 2010

On behalf of Brightfly, Brandon Dunlap, our managing director of research, accepted the “Most Connected Customer” award from the Small Business Web at South By Southwest [SXSW] last week. The award seemed to come as quite a surprise to him. “When I was asked if I could attend, the South By Small Business Web party as a Guest of Honor, I had no idea what was in store”, said Dunlap. Maybe that explains the kilt.

In a rare glimpse behind the curtain, Brightfly’s technological underpinnings for much of their outreach and research efforts were showcased. In doing so, Dunlap got to meet many of the founders of the very applications used by Brightfly everyday. “It was quite a pleasure to connect with folks like Michelle Riggen-Ransom from BatchBlue, Taylor Mingos from Shoeboxed, , and Scott McDaniel from SurveyGizmo. Coming from a small business myself, we share many of the same challenges and so they understand exactly what our business needs.”

We deeply appreciate the award and the chance to forge deeper ties with the members of the Small Business Web community. “And thanks for the great laptop bags!” added Dunlap, who after 100,000 air miles last near, destroyed two bags himself.
